I’m not a fan of organized religion. Atheism is just kind of where I fell into with my personal beliefs. However, I’m not a douche bag. If someone wants to believe there’s a teapot behind the moon, thats great! Keep that out of government policies and I am A-OK with it.

Over the past few years,…

Non-Believers Giving Aid is an integral part of Richard Dawkins’ OutCampaign and a large percentage of the sites flying the OutCampaign ‘A’ are also promoting NBGA (which funds Médecins Sans Frontières, among other things). Hitchens mentions Médecins Sans Frontières in a lot of his debates. We wouldn’t have what we have now without the efforts to advertise atheism.

It’s not possible to make the sort of impact you want us to have without having a campaign to make public atheism a known viable option. We have to let the in-the-closet atheists know they can come out so that we can organize to end the problems in our world.

Very true, and a valid counterpoint.  For me it just seems like a bone of contention between the religious and non religious, and all the press coverage garnered by these ads is about how pissed of the religious folk are, not about what these organizations are doing re: humanitarian work.  Maybe a revisit to the message we’re advertising?  As an Atheist viewing some of these ads, I think to myself “well sure, but I’m already an Atheist”.  We need more of a call to action then “come on guys, there’s not really a God, lets move on.”
